Castlethorn recognises that the true measure of a development is not only in the quality of the homes delivered, but in the legacy it leaves for the wider community and for generations to come. For us, the stewardship of the natural environment is inseparable from the responsibility of building.

Our developments are shaped by a principle that exceeds compliance: a commitment to protect habitats, conserve trees, and design landscapes that will endure for generations.

On two separate developments where protected badgers had established setts, we adjusted our build programme and engaged ecological experts to ensure the animals were correctly and safely rehomed.

At Lansdowne Place, where mature trees were already listed on the Tree Register of Ireland, we engaged an arborist to carry out routine health and wellbeing checks throughout the build programme, ensuring their continued protection. At Killeen Castle, the historic walled gardens were carefully preserved, and extensive lavender planting was introduced to cultivate a harmonious habitat for bees, underscoring the importance we attach to biodiversity.

Scale & Vision

Our true differentiator lies in the scale of our vision for green space. Across our developments, we have delivered more than 1,000 acres of parkland and over 3,000 acres of landscaping, integrating nature at the heart of our communities. In each Castlethorn development the provision of parks and natural amenities is given equal priority to the delivery of homes, creating lasting assets where families gather, children play and communities flourish.

Our respect for nature extends beyond our own schemes. As sustainability partner at leading property conferences, Castlethorn partnered with Catch My Carbon to sponsor the planting of 300 trees, one for every delegate attending. This initiative reflects our wider commitment to environmental responsibility and to leading by example within the industry.

We also continue to pioneer in how we build, having delivered some of the earliest A-rated homes in Ireland and the SEAI House of Tomorrow at Adamstown. By combining energy-efficient design with careful protection of ecosystems, waterways and wildlife habitats, we ensure that each new place achieves a true balance between built and natural environments.

We recognise the importance of the lands, trees and ecosystems entrusted to our care, and we give them as much thought and attention as the delivery of homes, infrastructure or architecture. In this way, Castlethorn has built a reputation not only as a housebuilder but as a community builder, ensuring every development leaves a legacy of responsibility, care and sustainability.
